"We have been using a divot mix with 20% Bonaparte Peat on our driving range tee. We move tees daily, seed with annual Ryegrass, and fill divots with the mix. This program has allowed us to return to each tee area after only 14 days rest. We have improved from a situation of a dry, sparse tee area to a quality, healthy tee. "Meridian Valley Country Club is a private 18 hole golf and country club with a full golfing membership of 400. Each year we host the Safeco Classic, an LPGA tour event. We have been using the 80% sand and 20% Bonaparte Peat mixture with seed as a divot repair material on all of our tees. We have been very pleased with the quick germination and rapid healing time. Our tees have never looked better. Because of the rapid germination and short healing period, we are able to better utilize our teeing areas, especially the par threes. We leave a bucket of the mix on each of our par threes and the members fill their own divots. Now they are requesting buckets placed on the first tee so they can carry a supply with them and fill divot holes in the fairways. It sounds great to me! We also have used the Bonaparte Peatmix as a planting medium for hanging baskets. We started in May with planters containing 100% Com-Peat, and some with 50% Com-Peat and 50% 3-way topsoil and finally, some with 100% 3-way topsoil. After 3 months we made evaluations. The flowers in the 100% Com-Peat were far superior in color, vigor, growth rate and stress tolerance than any of the other flowers. The flowers in the 50% Com-Peat graded out as second best. The Com-Peat held moisture exceptionally well and the nutrient content of the Com-Peat provided the flowers with plenty of good food. We were all very surprised and pleased. Next season we plan to use the sand and Bonaparte Peat and seed mixture as top-dressing for some of our "weaker" tees following coring. We also plan to incorporate some of the mixture into hydrophobic areas on our fairways and use it to help bring some dry and crusty mounds back into optimum condition. (This) is an exceptional product. I urge anyone associated with golf courses, nurseries, or any related fields to give it a try. Bonaparte Peat is a first rate tool that I highly recommend. "We are a private Country Club with over 400 golfing members. Our course was designed to accomodate a membership of closer to 250. We could not rotate our tees enough to allow full recovery. We started using a Bonaparte Peat, sand, seed mix to topdress divots. The results were excellent. Soon we were utilizing the product on our driving range tee, and then we made it available in the Pro Shop for the membership to fill divots in the landing areas of the fairways. In my opinion, we don't know all the applications of this product yet, but I do know it has a permanent place here at Fairwood Golf and Country Club." "We used your divot mix with Bonaparte Peat last August when Seattle Golf Club hosted the Pacific Coast Amateur. We had over one hundred rounds of golf during the seven day tournament, and there were many divots on both tees and fairways. We did a side-by-side comparison of your mix and seed on half these areas and straight sand and seed on the other. The Bonaparte Mix had germination 1/3 again faster than straight sand and seed. I was impressed with the quality of the amendment used in your mix. It seems to be a higher quality peat moss than is readily available to us. The Bonaparte divot mix initially seems expensive. Considering the quality of the mix and the importance of the areas on which it is used, the money spent on the divot mix seems like a reasonable and efficient use of maintenance budget dollars." "I wish to express my satisfaction with your product Bonaparte Peat, which I used for the first time this year in the construction of greens and tees at our Lynnwood Municipal Golf Course. At the suggestion of our Golf Course Superintendent, we allowed the contractor to substitute 10% Bonaparte Peat for 20% sphagnum peat moss in our greens mixture. This 90% washed sand/10% Bonaparte Peat mixture was then tested and approved by Agri-Systems. Our first greens, which were seeded in August, germinated in five days and were mowed in three weeks. While this was outstanding, even more impressive to me was the uniformity of the Penncross bentgrass surface that was established. I am very optimistic that when the course opens, the green surfaces will be considered outstanding. "The range tee at Sahalee Country Club is in use 10 - 12 hours per day during the summer months. The grass on the tee was destroyed within 30 days. Our General Manager, Rick Meinig and myself, decided we needed a better driving range tee for. The Bonaparte Peat, sand and seed mix was introduced to us by Gary Santo of Golf Course Specialties. Within 2 weeks, we put the Bonaparte Mix to work with three types of rye and the results were excellent. The new turf is ready within 14 days.
